What is self-storage, and why do I need it?

Many have come to realize how convenient and cost saving self-storage facilities can be. We all have things we don’t want to part with or need but just don’t have the room. Think of self-storage as your own personal extra closet or storage room. Our storage facility is a safe, secure, clean and pest-free environment to store your things with convenient access to your items from 6:00a.m. to 10:00p.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year. You store it, you lock it, and you keep the key. No one else has access to your storage unit. Our units come in many sizes, prices and climate controlled or regular storage. You rent the space on a monthly basis for as long as you need it. There is no long-term lease and no deposit. Your payment is due on the same day each month with many options for paying your rent. Our expert storage managers are on site six days a week to assist you in finding your perfect solution. Entrance to the fenced property is granted only to customers using their unique code to enter the computerized gate. Security cameras offer live surveillance and recorded activity. The entire property is brightly lit for added security. Our paved driveways are wide enough for even the largest moving vans.

What size do I need and what will it cost?

We have many sizes from the smallest, 5x5x4’ cubicle to our largest 20×24’, and many sizes in between. All ceiling heights are at least 8’ high to 12’ high, except the 5x5x4 cubicle with a 4’ height. To help you visualize the size, a 5×5 is like a small walk-in closet, and a 5×10 is like a large walk-in closet. A 10×10 is like a medium bedroom and a 10×15 is like a large bedroom. A 10×20 is like a small, one-car garage and a 10×25 is like a long, one-car garage. A 20×24 is like a double-car garage. Do I have to sign a long term lease?

No. Our Storage units lease on a month to month basis. You only sign a monthly lease. You can vacate your unit whenever you are ready.

Do you have office space for lease also?

Yes! Are you Ready to move your office out of your home and reclaim that bedroom? Our offices are great for small businesses! We offer great visibility and drive-by appeal, with all offices fronting on Old Highway 441 in Tavares, Florida. The size is approximately 20×20’, including a bathroom and closet. Office tenants sign a one-year lease and there is a deposit. Call or come by and check us out for more office details and availability. What do I need to get started?

You will need a valid drivers license or other government issued form of identification, names and contact information, emergency contact information, signature on the lease and method of payment.

How do I pay my monthly rent?

There are several options for payment of rent, which is due on the same day each month. With our Auto Bill program, we can automatically charge your Master Card, Visa, Discover, each month. You can Pay Online at with a major credit card. If you have a PayPal account, you can also use that to make your payment. You can mail a monthly check for your rent to Out O’ Space Storage & Office Park, 1605 East Alfred Street, Tavares, FL, 32778. You can call and make a credit card payment by phone, or you can always stop in and make a payment.

What are your office hours?

Our managers are in the office from 9:00a.m. – 6:00p.m., Monday through Friday; 9:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. on Saturday. Our office is closed on Sunday and major holidays.

What time can I get in the gate to go to my storage unit?

The gate hours are from 6:00a.m. – 10:00p.m., seven days a week, 365 days a year. Only storage customers with a unique gate code will be able to access the facility.

What if my moving van plans to arrive late?

We can make special arrangements for late access on your move-in, or other special circumstances.

What kind of security do you have?

Out O’ Space Storage & Office Park, a modern state of the art facility, is entirely fenced with computerized gate controlled access. We have surveillance cameras and monitor for live viewing or recorded activity. We have bright security lighting after dark. Our office is staffed by on-site managers during office hours. To keep you and your storage items secure, we do not offer 24-hour access.

Who can get into my storage unit?

You, the person leasing the unit, have access to the storage facility and your unit. If you list anyone else on the lease with ‘authorized access’, then those people would have access to the facility and your gate code also. Only those you have given a key to your lock will be able to enter your unit. It is your choice as the Tenant to either allow access to those you choose or limit access only to yourself.

Will I need a lock when I rent a storage unit?

Yes. You store it, you lock it, and you keep the key. No one else has access to your storage unit unless you give them your key. We cannot access your storage unit. We have quality, high security locks available for your purchase.

What if I loose my key?

Our managers may be able to assist you during business hours.

What are Climate-Controlled units and why would I need one?

Climate controlled storage units are in a building where the temperature is kept at a constant range between approximately 62 degrees and 82 degrees. Florida’s extreme heat and humidity can cause damage to electronic and computer equipment, the finishes on hardwood furniture and cause mildew on everything in a short period of time. Our climate controlled units are well insulated inside a building where you access your unit through a hallway. Dust and bugs are eliminated. If you plan to store your items for more than three to four months, we hope you will consider renting climate-controlled storage.

Do you have handcarts or dollies available to move my contents to my climate-controlled unit?

Yes, we have both available during our office hours. See our manager on duty for assistance.

What about Insurance?

We have insurance on our buildings and business, but our insurance does not cover your storage contents. Although it is not required, insurance on your stored contents is recommended and will cover your contents in the case of fire, theft, storms or other natural disasters. Check out our Insurance Tips for more information. If it’s worth storing, it’s worth insuring. We do not sell insurance, but have a storage insurance company available for our storage customers.

Can I Reserve a Unit?

Yes! You can reserve a unit online at anytime within 30 days of your planned move-in date, based on availability. If the unit size and type you need is not immediately available, we can place your name on a waiting list and notify you as soon as it is available.

How do I ‘vacate’ a unit?

When you move out is up to you, since you rent month to month. A few days notice or as soon as possible is appreciated when you are ready to move out. Remember to take your lock off when you move out and let us know when you have emptied your unit.
